My Thoughts:

**I was provided a copy by the author for an honest review. It does not in any way affect my opinions for this book**

On a scale of 1 to 5, this was a 3.5 for me. I didn’t exactly love the whole book. I only liked the book as a whole, but there are certain parts that I love. It was a beautiful and poignant story. The writing was poetic and… candid. It is written in 3rd POV which isn’t something I am a fan of.

You chose the difficult road. You chose the path of greatest risk and uncertainty, but it was also the path that led you to happiness.

The setting was perfect. We get a glimpse into the older Snow White. It is set many years after Snow White married Charming (let’s say that sentence all together… “they lived happily ever after”. Yay!)

The so-called “happily ever after” happened, yay… nothing new there. This book was realistic. I mean, not everything will be perfect after you get your happy ending (which isn’t exactly the end of your life). This is NOT a Disney movie.

Let’s get into details. Snow White is a broken person. Her husband died and she’s still mourning for him. She starts to lose hope and loses light in her life. She also been pushing away her daughter. Aw, sad.

One day, she sees one of her deceased stepmother’s possessions. A magic mirror( wow, I didn’t expect that in a Snow White retelling! Just kidding.) The mirror shows her truths about herself. She also relives her worst and best memories. She discovers lots of things in her life. The “not lost” but hidden things. This part of the retelling is what I loved. It’s like time-travelling, but with more… depth.

Secrets and hidden memories are revealed as the story goes on. I was surprised with some of Snow’s memories. I felt truly sorry for her. Her past did contain violence which wasn’t that graphic, to be honest. But was painful to read.

The book did have some mature content. It’s a mature book after all. It did have sex, yes. I was weirded out. Like really weirded out. It’s not Colleen Hoover’s Ugly Love (that was a nightmare). There is only one sex scene. I warn you, it’s a little graphic.

Back to Snow White, I did hate her at first. I found Snow White annoying and naive. (Well, I always do actually. The animated film and OUAT Snow Whites were really annoying. Sorry.) However, “Mirror, mirror on the wall… who’s the least annoying of them all?”, Snow White from this book is! When she comes back to her worst memories, I understand her feelings and situation. I felt bad judging her without knowing her past. Speaking of past, it was vividly narrated by the author!

Lastly, this book gave me the FEELS. The author did an amazing job on conveying all those emotions! It was indeed a rollercoaster ride of feels!

Anyways, it was a really great read. I’m so glad I was sent a copy. If not, I probably would not have read this.
