I LOVED this book. I love the characters, the plot, and every aspect of this book. Of course, another reason is because it’s a Morgan Matson book! She’s one of my favorite authors!

This book is about a girl named Alexandra, known as Andie. She’s loves to plan out things and keep things neat and organized. We’re not talking about just plans, but COLLEGE plans and RELATIONSHIPS. Yup. This girl has some sort of limit when it comes to relationships, it has to be until 3 weeks only. Also, no real love in there because things can get messy. All you gotta do is make-out for hours. Weird. Anyways, Andie has planned that her summer will be spent at a pre-med school(?) and that things will be quiet. However, plans change because of her dad’s (who is a congressman) scandal. And that’s where things START.

I love that this book is very realistic and honest! The characters felt so real along with the situations they face. Of course, there is no perfect friendship, and this book will show you that. Andie’s friends were amazing! I love Palmer, Bri, and Toby! My favorite is probably Palmer because she’s up for anything! They were so hilarious and fun to read about! They’re the people that’ll keep you going!

This book is also about relationships and how important they are. That’s where family comes in. Andie’s father had been a stranger to her for years! She wants to get away from him as possible. As the story goes on, we get to see how important family is.

Last thing I want to talk about is the leading man! CLARK! Oh my goodness! He is so cute! *squeals* I love reading about his character! I still love Frank, but Clark is my number two (but I’m thinking about it!) ! Morgan Matson definitely knows how to create a swoon-worthy fictional guy! He’s awkward, funny, and nerdy!

Okay. I’m going to be direct here. First of all, I have to admit that I kind of hate Andie! She’s so annoying! She’s such a selfish and childish character. The part when Bri was caught with Wyatt and Bri asks Andie what to do, she simply says DON’T TELL. If Toby doesn’t know, then everything will be FINE! We’ll be best friends forever while lying to her! No. That is the STUPIDEST decision ever. Instead of doing things right, she goes suggesting people to lie. What the heck?

I also kind of hate that Andie thinks things work out like magic! When they all fought after the Bri incident, she keeps thinking that one day she’ll wake up and Toby forgives Bri and they all live happily ever after! NO. I want to slap her into reality. Really.

Now you might be thinking, why do I still like the book if I hate the main character? Well, I looked past things. I focused on the plot and the other characters. Just clearing things off.

Let’s move on to the good things shall we? I love the development between Andie and her dad. It was not so quick and felt realistic. I love the part when her dad joined the scavenger hunt! He was such a fun fictional father! He was so full of energy that gave me good vibes!

Clark was such a sweetheart! I love that he is honest! Especially when they went on their first date! He was like: “We never really talked about anything REAL.” I love that he brought that up and it showed us what kind of guy he really is. OH! By the way, I got so shocked when it was revealed that Clark was the author of the fantasy novel that has excerpts in the book! When I first read it, I was like: “Why is this here?”

I love how Karl and Marjorie played such an amazing role in the story! I love the idea of couples weaving their ideas into one story. It’s just so cute! I also didn’t expect she’ll bring that out in the end! When Andie went to do her public confession, I was squealing! It was such a good scene!

Lastly, I want to talk about the ending. I was a little shocked to find out that Toby and Bri were still a little… not okay. I finally understood and saw the point of that when I looked at the title once again. THE UNEXPECTED EVERYTHING. Unexpected things can happen in your life! That ending was so realistic. Yes, it’s hard to get over your best friend falling in love with the guy you were head-over-heels in love with! I kind of experienced something similar (not entirely similar though). I just love the fact that the book was so realistic.
